POLICE FORCE
NEW SUPERINTENDENT.
WELLINGTON, August 23
Inspector S. Till, of Wanganui, is to be the new superintendent of- police at Auckland, in succession to Commissioner W. G. Wohlmann.
The Hon. J. G. Cobbe, Minister of Police, announced this morning that Inspector Till had been promoted to the rank of superintendent as from August 1, and would be transferred to Auckland. The Minister announced also that Inspector J. K. Simpson, of Palmerston North, had been promoted superintendent, and. would remain at Palmerston North. X
“Inspector Simpson,” ~ said Mr Cobbe, bis a senior inspector with an excellent record and well qualified for promotion. In view of the fact that he is not in robust health and is due to retire within the next two years on reaching the age limit, it has been decided to promote him to the rank of superintendent and permit him to remain at Palmerston North, and to fill the vacancy for a superin.-; tendent at Auckland by the promotion off- Inspector Till, who is next senior inspector.”’ The Minister'.further stated that Inspector J. M’Uveney would be transferred from Auckland to the charge ~of the Wanganui district to replace inspector Till.
