At Hamilton, England scored the second lawn bowling win as .Hills and Wright outpointed the New Zealand pair McWhannel and Fielding h.v 20 to 18. The teams tied five an at the seventh and the New Zealanders went into a four shot lead in the next five ends. England counted j three at the thirteenth and added' two at the fourteenth and were never headed after that. In the lawn bowling doubles Reid and Moore (Canada) defeated Hill and Giovanette (South Africa) 24 to--10. MONTREAL, Aug. 18. In the singles, Thomas (South Africa) defeated Reid (Vancouver), the Canadian champion, 21 to 7. A Canadian rink beat an, English four skipped by Frith by 27 to 19. In rink Scotland defeated New Zealand, 22 to 11. The Scots counted six at the thirteenth end, to go into a commanding lead which they maintained to the finish. DIVING. Alfred Phillips won the high dicing championship for Canada, Walker (Cuiiitdn) second, Scott (England) third. NEW ZEALAND EIGHT MONTREAL. Aug. 18. The New Zealand rowing eight smoothed out during last week at Hamilton, and is the local choice to take the eight oar title at the Empire games.
