AUCKLAND, August 18
A further argument in the Supreme Court was heard to-day by Judge Smith on a writ of Habeas Corpus in the case of Cecil Hazlett, farmer of North Taieri, Otago, who was committed to the Inebriates home at Rotorua Island.
Mr J. J. Sullivan, for Hazlett, stated! the warrant for tlie committal had been lost. He alleged the magistrate was deliberately selected by liis complain-, ant (brother) and taken into his confidence and that the Magistrate was prepared to fall in with complaintant’s arrangements. Mr Sullivan also alleged at the time the order was made, Hazlett was in no condition to undergo a fair trial as required by law.
