BOXING

BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Aug. 15. Ninety-three entries have been received for the New Zealand amateur boxing championships at- Palmerston North on August 21, 22 and 23. This has necessitated about 84 bouts to decide the championships, -and S 4 of these will 'be decided on the first night. It is probable that two afternoons will also 'be required. The New Zealand Council has appointed Earl Stewart as referee, and an assistant will be appointed by- the Council at the championships, The North Island judges are; Bush (Auckland), Fry (Wanganui), Heath (Napier), and South Island: Paterson (Dunedin), Tall (Invercargill), Johnston (Ashburton).
