Hunt was disqualified for life, being caught with a battery at Eagle Farm race course. The Stipendiary Steward was advised that the rider intended using the battery on Kitty Paddington in the last race, so lie waited until Hunt was at the post in an earlier race. Ho then searched his locker and found the battery among his clothes. The Steward stayed his hand until Hunt was 'weighed out and about to mount Kitty Paddington. He then ordered him to the Steward’s room where he confessed that he intended using the battery. He stated it was his own arid that the owner or trainer had no knowledge of his intention. Kitty Paddington is owned by one of the best known of Queensland’s racing men, Darcy Win ten.
