DISASTROUS DROUGHT

In connection with the drought-en-dangered areas, President Hoover said that it had not been determined what action shall be taken. The Administration is apparently much worried over the situation, the reports of which have become more depressing hourly. The weather forecasts continue to be most gloomy, stating. “We apparently are caught in a pocket.” Low water is widely reported, and the fire hazard is increasing. The 'State of Pennsylvania to-day appeared to be “burning up.” Fires are raging in other States and heat continues to tour'll high points. The death roll in gaining. DROUGHT STRICKEN AREA. ASSISTANCE URGENTLY NEEDED (Received this dav at, noun.) , WASHINGTON, Aug. 6. The concentrated, effort of Government ageucies were bent on Wednesday to . ascertaining accurately the needs of.;.the drought (stricken country. Desolation, equalling destruction by floods, tornadoes and earthquakes, were described to the President in u telegram for aid from Governor; Sampson, of Kentucky. Other places asked, for a, proclamation to be issued throughout the nation for prayer meetings for humans as well as tattle.
