TREATY OF COMMERCE

A Treaty of Commerce and Navigation between the United Kingdom and "Rollmania which was signed at ithei Foreign Office in London this afternoon will not come formally into force' until ratifications have been exchanged, but letters were exchanged, on the signature between William Graham (President of the Board of Trade) and Monsieur Tilea (head of the Roumanian delegation) in which it. wus agreed to bring the treaty provisionally into force to-morrow, pending an exchange of ratifications, Which will take some time to compile. Otherwise British goods would have'to come liable to duties of Roumanian ‘general tariff'on September Ist. By this treaty each party accords to r( ips and Subjects of the other the most favoured nation treatment ‘in rill matters relating to commerce, navigation and industry, carrying on of business and exercise of professions or occupations. Other provisions of the treaty, which is designed to prepare the way in all respects for closer commercial relations between the two countries include one authorising the appointment of consuls. There are also articles for protection of the rights of inventions, trade marks and and for the prevention of false trade marks and descriptions.
