■A. The' first Annual Fancy Dress Masquerade Ball of the Plunket Society was held in the Harihari Hall on Aug. Ist., and it proved one of the most enjoyable entertainments of the year. The musicj supplied by the Ross Orchestra (Miss Parker, Messrs Parker, Ableson, Bridgman, Houlahan and Barlthrop) was very inspiring, the old tunes encouraging many who had not .danped" for many a day, to again re"riew ; a little of their youth as was evinced by a quartette, which arrived k little late, but made up for their by the zest they entered intdftliA spirit of carnival that prevailed.
