Unprecedented scenes occurred at the Stadium when the wrestlers Ted Thye and Billy Edwards fought madly, after the referee, Tom 'Banner, had been kicked unconscious. Finally recovering (somewhat, the referee crawled alongside the men on the mat and crowned Thye as the winner. He then left the ring. Actually it was Thye’s foot that caused tho trouble.
While pandemonium reigned, Thye also loft the yiug. Edwurda, in. tears, appeuled to the crowd and scenes of the wildest disorder followed, until after ten minutes Thye returned, and the match was continued, with another wrestler, Tom Lurich as referee. The contest eventually ended in a draw, one fall to each. When either man offended, Lurich applied vicious holds or smacks.
