MOTOR DRIVER FINED
PECULIAR INCIDENT.
fßy Telegraph—Per Press Association WELLINGTON, Aug. 2. For ignoring traffic signals, bumping into another car and injuring a young woman on a footpath, Stanley Prebble was fined £ls and his license suspended for twelve months, and his companion, Leopold Prior, £2, for not having a driver’s license. There were also charges of intoxication which were held to be not proved. A feature of the case was evidence given by a young woman who was standing with the one injured. She said that they went to a doctor and after her companion had been attended to they went outside for a motor to take them home. A car approached, the dcor was opened and one of the men said: “Aren’t you going to get in.” This was the very car that had caused the injury. The witness recognised it by the number, and moreover, when asked if it was not the car that was concerned, one of the men said, “Yes,” whereupon the other told him to shut up.
