PRISONERS SENTENCED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association* .WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. At the Supreme Court, today, before the Chief Justice, Sir M. Myers, 1 Jack Hawes was sentenced to 18 months’ hard labour, and Joseph Newton to 12 months’; hard labour, for having house-breaking implements in their possession, and for breaking and entering. !

John O’Donnell, for indecent assault on a female, was ordered 12 months’ reformative imprisonment. Charles Patrick McAllister, for forging and uttering, was sentenced to two years’ hard labour. There were several convictions against him, anil he was warned that if lie cam© before the Court a,gtin, lie would be declared an habitual criminal.

Stanley William Findlay, for carry- 1 ing on 'the business of a bdokmaker, was sentenced to nine months’ .imprisonment.
