THE COUNCIL.
WELLINGTON, Aug. 1. In the Legislative Council yesterday, the Rent Restrictions Bill was put through all stages and passed. The Imprest Supply Bill was also passed and the Council adjourned at 4 p.m. till 13th. August.
THE HOUSE,
AMENDMENT DEFEATED. In the. House of Representatives the Invalid Pensions Bill (Mr O’Brien) and Auckland City and Motuihi Empowering Bill (Air Savage) were introduced and read a first time.
The Financial Debate was continued and -a division on the amendment moved by the Leader of the Opposition was taken. It was rejected by 42 votes to 28. Reform members, and Messrs Poison Wilkinson, Rushworth, and Fletcther voted for the amendment, and United and Labour members, also Messrs Hogan and Lysnar voted against it. The debate was adjourned, and the House rose at 10.30 p.m.
