PAY PRIMAGE DUTY AT SYDNEY

SYDNEY, July 29.
Nine prominent New Zealand horses, including Limerick, Paquito, Gay Crest and Arikiwai, arrived at. Sydney today, in good condition, and the Federal Government’s new primage duty of 2-£iper cent, was enforced in their cases for the first time. This, however, will be refunded if the horses return home within six months.
NJGHTMAKCH FOR MELBOURNE SYDNEY, July 29. N'ightmarch to-day was withdrawn from the Metropolitan Handicap, but remains in tbe Caulfield and Melbourne Cups.
AUSTRALIAN HURDLES. MELBOURNE, July 29. The final acceptors for the Australian Hurdles are:—Moss Trooper, Kentle, Swaliilli, Johnny Cake, Diamond Plume, Paul Treanui, Lord Darnley, Polygonum and Rossgole.
TROTTING DATES TIMARU. July 28. At a recent meeting of the Timaru Trotting Club it was decided to protest .against the action of the New Brighton Club in endeavouring to have their meeting at the same time as . the Timaru Club. The Trotting Conference, according to advice received at to-day’s meeting of the Club’s committee, has granted the Timaru Club’s application for the dates they require, and -the New Brighton Club will have to find other dates.
