The “Financial Times” says The Anglo-Dutoh Rubber Growers’ Committee are asking the British and Dutch Governments immediately to negotiate with a view to arranging for a restriction on production, and lor a combined minimum price per pound probably one of ninepence per pound, compared with fivepenee farthing which is the present price. The British growers have secured ninepence per pound, which is the lowest market price at which the industry can continue to produce. . .■> . The paper says that the estimated rubber production in 1931 will be about 950,000 tons, while the consumption will probably be only 750,000 tons. The Dutch growers have" already proposed that the production should be cut down to 75 per cent of last year’s output, with the power to release stocks if the prices exceed ’ ninepence for three months.
