PROMINENT MAX’S DEATH f By Telegraph, Per Press Association.. . • ’T{i. . ■ i ! DAROA VIIjLE, July 28. One of the best known men of tile district, Frank J. Dargaville, the eldest son of the late Mr J. M. Dargaville, founder of the town and after whom Dargaville is named, died after a very brief illness to-day. He was formerly Mayor and Chairman of the Hobsop County 'Council. At the time of his death he was President of the Dargaville Racing Club, Hobson Acclimatisation Society, and an active member of the Golf Club, Bowling Club, Chamber of Commerce, and many other local institutions. ITe had been a supporter of all open-air sport and a. most liberal donor of trophies. He was a staunch supporter of the Church of England, to which he - recently presented a pipe organ. He was a strong supporter of the' Reform Party, anc! was for some years Chairman of Hon. Coates’ election committee. Ho is survived by a widow, two daughters, a> brother and four sisters.

A doctor was called in, but the boy became unconscious, and he died at 2 a.m. from cerebral haemorrhage. '

John William MacLeod, 47, married, who resided at Wakari died suddenly at an early hour this morning. Deceased, who was an engineer and employed at the Corporation Electric power house at Halfway Bush, was on duty at midnight and at 12.10 phoned the superintendent.
