CAR DRIVER FINED. (By Telegraph—Per Press Association. ASHBURTON, July 22. Defendant collided with a car in East Street causing considerable damage. TWO BURGLARIES. ELTHAM, July 22. Two cases of burglary were reported to-day at Central and Coronation Hotels where bedrooms were entered. Casey (licensee of the Central) lost four pounds from his trousers pocket in his own room and Murray (Government Inspector of Machinery) staying at the Coronation, £0 10s in notes, also taken from lhs clothes. A porter at the Coronation saw a man in a passage who disappeared quickly. The police were immediately on the scene .and investigations are proceeding. SHOT-GUN ACCIDENT. MAN’S HAND SHATTERED. HAWERA. July 22. As the result of a shot gun exploding when be was climbing through a fence at Manaia yesterday, a young man, Percy J. Sutton, has been liospitalled with his right hand and arm shattered. SOLICITORS IN TROUBLE. WELLINGTON, July 21. The application of tlie New Zealand Law Society for an order striking John Charles Carroll' and John Ponsohby Somers of Te Aroha, solicitors, off the rolls of practising solicitors of New Zealand came before the Court of Appeal this morning. The Court, being of the opinion that the evidence before it w r as unsatisfactory, and that the matter could not he dealt with at- the present time, adjourned the hearing until the next sitting of the Court. The solicitors were suspended from practising ip the meantime.
