FOREMAN'S REPORT. Wataroa E.-luol—The erection of the now wood shed at this school is now mushed. The shelter shed has been raised, -partition taken away, and a wooden floor and seats provided. As authorised the front fence has also been extended and some minor repairs done- to the school. Authority lias been given to paint this school building and out offices, and this work will be done in owe course. Harihari School —-At this school the fire-places have been smoking badly, and whilst the workmen were working in the district I took the opportunity to have these fire-places attended to. I . have fixed patent smoke tops on the two chimneys and raised the fireplaces; this, I think will overcome the trouble. Kanieri school—During the month I have had the stove pipe renewed .in one of the class rooms, the old pipe being burnt through and quite done. Hokitika master’s resilience—The headmaster has drawn my attention to the dilapidated state of the paper on the- walls and ceiling in the front s't-t-ing room. A large portion of the scrim requires renewing and the walls and ceiling badly requires papering and the doors etc. varnishing. The cost of this work will be £9 5s Od. The kitchen and dining room hearths should also he relaid. Cost 15s. Bruce Bay school—The authorised work at this school is now in hand, and give if fine weather good progress will be made. BUILDING COMMITTEE. K umara Junction—Correspondence was received regarding a. controversy between the School Committee and the Social Committee over the use of the school buildings. It was resolved to reply that the Committee bad full control of the buildings and that the other complaints were mostly personal matters between the different parties. Greymo utb—The Committee wrote thanking the Board for the expeditious way in which the temporary room bad been erected after the grant had been approved. It was resolved tlint a cony of the Committee’s letter he sent to the Greymouth foreman. Humphreys—Mr 11. J. Bignell was requested to report on the teacher’s renewed application for the erection of a wesli-house or bathroom at the residence which is at present let to a tenant. Kanieri—Repair or renewal of grates at school and residence. Referred to foreman for attention. Arab lira Read—Repairing and painting of .school building; renewal of weatherboards. Foreman asked to have work put in hand. Replacement of present windows by niodern ones: remodelling of partition dividing the classrooms, to foreman for report. AVoodstoek—Replacement of grate in master’s room ; attention to fence® and gates; overhauling of present clocks or provision of new ones; additional coat lic^ks; two easels for blackboards in infant room. Foreman authorised to take action and to investigate request for easels.
