LIPTON’S. FIFTH ATTEMPT.

LONDON, July 8
The Prince of Wales, presiding at a luncheon of master mariners in ; honour of Sir Thomas Lipton, wished lum success in hi,s fifth attempt to win the America Oup, adding: “All we ask for is a turn of luck, and I believe it will be as popular in America as in Britain, if Sir Thomas Lipton, at 80, recovers the -Cup, won from Britain when he was a year oid” .
Sir Thomas, replying,' said he appreciated the stimulus of such good wisnes for the effort to bring back the “elusive old mug.”
LIPTON’S YACHT.
DEPARTURE FOR AMERICA.
RUGBY, July 17.
The yacht Shamrock V will leave Portsmouth on Saturday, under her own canvas, to cross the Atlantic Ocean to compete for the America Cup.. She will be escorted by. Sir Thomas Lipton’s steam yacht “Erin.” The Shamrock will- proceed to New York, where she is expected about August 20th. after calling at the Azores - Islands.
