GOLD-BEARING SAND BEACHES
The black sand of the beaches represents nature’s work of concentration depending upon the surf; its ever fitful changes forming a. thin layer of almost pure black iron sand, occasionally quite rich in gold, arid also to some extent platinum may be found. Most of the attempts made to recover the gold from the black sand found on our beaches have been a failure, and for the man who can solve the riddle there is an almost unlimited amount of material awaiting him. When fully understood and intelligently developed the sand beach deposits cannot fail to add much to the mineral wealth of the Coast.
