TROTTING CONFERENCE

OFFICERS ELECTED

WELLINGTON, July 9

The annual Trotting Conference is being held to-day. It was decided to approve of the proposed merger of the Otahuhu and Auckland clubs in . the terms of the draft agreement, and also the issue to the Auckland Cluo of the existing tote permits and other rights and privileges whatsoever of tne Otahuhu Club; and that all future consideration of permits of the Auckland Club shall be viewed by the Conference in right of and with due regard to the merger of the Otahuhu Club. Pules 12 and 104 were amended to specifically apply in this instance to the two clubs. Several amendments were made to various rules on various grounds in regard to several remits amending handicapping rules. The Chairman said that while the (present system was responsible for too many complaints to be regarded as satisfactory, be maintained that the penalty on horses should be definitely fixed by the Conference, and after discussion the Conference decided to carry on the present system until July 31. Officers elected were; President, Mr H. E. Nieholl, Ashburton ;viee-presi-dent, Mr Rowe, Auckland. Executive: Messrs Ollivier, Irwin, and H. R Mackenzie.
