DEBT CASE,

Exeeiitors Estate A. H. Keller (Mr Murdoch) v. H. Gardiner, claim £2l. Judgment for plaintiff with costs £4 Is 6d.

POLICE OFFENCES

The' Police (Mr Murdoch) charged Charles Edward Bergmann with driving a motor car and not stopping at a crossing, and with crossing when the line .was not clear. A plea of guilty was entered. Fined. 5s and costs 42s on the first charge and convicted with costs bn the second, solicitor £1 Is on each charge.

The Police charged William J. Singer (Mr Elcock) with driving a motor cycle without a license (two charges). Defendant pleaded guilty. Fined 5s and costs 10s on the first charge; ordered to pay costs 10s on the second.

Same v. M. Connolly, a charge of allowing a cow to wander.. Fined 10s and costs IQs. > ... , :

Same v. J. Coulson,, one. horse.-. Fined 5s and costs-10s.

Same v. P. Sout.er, a-/charge of procuring liquor while prohibited. Fined 40s and costs-JOs. \r.

The Police-charged H. Steel, licensee of Post Office Hotel, with exposing liquor for sale- and- Joseph flopkins (barman) with supplying liquor after hours. Mr Sellers ior defendants pleaded guilty Lo these charges. The license© was fined £2 and costs 10s, and the barman 20s and 10s costs.

Inspector of Weights and Measures v. Wells Bros. (Mr-Elcock) a charge of having possejssitfnof v several -incorrect weights for scales.' l A- plea of not guilty was' entered. Alter' l hear-' ing the explanation of H. 1 Wells'who stated there were -four •'lots ■of ’scales, and only - one was slightly 1 defective, and that he had already taken steps, to get liew weights', a fine *of 40s and costs 15s was Inflicted/ ' , - Same v. T, Stopforth (Mr Murdoch); a charge of failure to Supply a docket of weight when delivering coal, a fid also carrying bags of coal short of weight for sale.' Mr'Murdoch said in absence of liis father, a son .had assisted in the yard and had been the offender. The ya'rd was' properly equipped with scales c ’and it was an apparent carelessness dfl the‘ part of the ' youth. The' Inspector stated the scales were correct, and explained his action leading to'thb'prosecution. Fined 20s and costs 15s, first- charge aiid convicted and- ordered to pay costs,lss on the second^
