The meeting of the Imperial International Communications adopted the report and .accounts for 21 months, declaring a dividend of oif per cent, for that period equal to £3 os 8d per annum. The total revenue amounted to £11,381,261 and expenditure £9,,358, 106, leaving a, profit of £2,023,155. The directors estimate the probable profit for the yeafr 1930 will not exceed £600,000 sterling. Traffic is falling heavily, due to the world depression and accordingly stops, are being taken to introduce Jess expensive methods of operation on certain circuits.
PARTY CONFERENCE CANCELLED
LONDON, July 2
At their annual conference,the National Union of Conservative Unionis Associations decided to cancel the proposed conference at Birmingham in October. ‘ This is the first time for many years that n 6 annualParty Conference has been held.
THIRD. FIRE IN TWO MONTHS
APIA, July 2
The third fire in two months occurred at two this morning, the Apia post office and telephone exchange being burnt to the ground. The undelivered part of the parcels and mail ex-Tofua were destroyed. Th e office records and money strong room - were intact. The origin is unknown. The building was old and formerly used as the German Consulate.
