'FATAL CAR CAPSIZE.

DUNEDIN, June 28
While travelling by ear to Timaru this morning, Janies Williamson, a married man, aged 72, residing at St. Leonards, was. killed about .two miles 'north of Wnikouaiti through a car swerving- in loose gravel and overturning. The deceased ivas killed almost instantly, but three others in the •ear were not injured. The deceased was formerly a Government marine surveyor.
CHILD DROWNED IN DRAIN
HAMILTON, June 30,
A drowning fatality occurred at Claudelnnds this afternoon, when Alexander Powell, the infant son oi Mr and Airs Stanley Powell, of Tramway Road, lost his life in a drain near his parents’ residence. Finding the child had disappeared early in the afternoon. Airs Powll made a search and found the body huddled up in the drain which was. partially filled with water, on the Alakura Farm property near the house. The child was aged twelve months.

Between 'four Oiiid 'five o’clock tills afternoon, tlie bodies of two men were found/lief/ one in -tlie ; harbour, and one fn the road near the Town. Belt.. Tlie former was afterwards found to he that of J. Dyer, who had been living at the Salvation Army Shelter for,the past few days. The other body lias not been identified, hut is that of a middle-aged man. No marks of violence or other •cause of death are in evidence. Inquests will l>e held.
BIGAMY CASE
DUNEDIN, June 28,
In the Police Court, Edward John Hen cry pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy and was .committed for sentence.
The evidence showed that when 19 years old, on leave from war service, he married at Durham; England, in 1918, under the name of Howard. He and his ivife later came to.-New Zealand, living at Gore ami Invercargill. There were six children alive. He. left her in November, and in April of tllisM"year married another girl in Dunedin, signing his name, as -John William Heiiery. Vv
AN INQUEST. AVELLINGTON, July. 1
An inquest was held before Air AicNeil,- S. M,,- "touching on the death of Mrs Sarah AVilliams-, aged 77, of 190 Dewsbury Terrace, in a- private hospital after having collided uitli <i motor lorry on June 16th. Ihe coroner said, having heard all the evidence, that he could not find any blame at'•thdifihle to the driver of the lorry. His finding'would he that Airs AVilKliamsi.died- as a result of- injuries reneived through colliding with a niotpr lorry driven by - Charles- Thomas Bridge. CREDITORS’ MEETING/ , WELLINGTON, July 1;. ' At .a meeting- of the creditors, of ißohcrtf Reardoif, ’a- plumber, Tate -of lower Hntt, the question of bfimring b;p-]; the creditor as an absconder was discussed. It was also suggested the creditors should guarantee £'loo towards the cost, hut others thought- it wiser .to have a further inoub-v ir>™ the position of affairs and consider the point later. A list of. debts was revised. and the total came to about 61009. The meeting wns adimirned for four weeks to enable further information to be obtained.
