LOCO DRIVER KILLED
WHILE CROSSING LINE.

CHRISTCHURCH, June 27
William Henry Irwin, married, a railway engine driver, was struck by a Lyttelton train near J.inwood Station at (5.40 this morning, and he died soon afterwards. Irwin was on his way to work, ajyd lie was crossing tho line at a point where there was no thorough fare across the tracks, when be was struck by a locomotive and thrown aside. He was picked up between two sets of rails. He was still living, but lie died while being conveyed to the hospital.
