Lord Rothennere has written to Lord Beaverbrook an important letter declaring that, as the result of careful inquiries all over the country, he has now persuaded himself that taxes on foreign foodstuffs are not only economically desirable, but are electoi ally possible. His inquiries, he says, show that Empire free trade has overwhelming support.
Lord Rothermere adds: “As T believe that your’s is the only policy that can save Britain from the threatening disaster, I hail you as the only man who has the courage, the energy, and the vision to give the country a great constructive lead, and T unreservedly pledge to its support the United Party, of which I am the founder.”
