NO EXTRA LOAN

GOVERNMENT’S PROPOSALS. (Bv Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, June 24. Tt is learned that the Government does not intend to aise an extra loan in London this year. Extra taxation is therefore inevitable, though some savings can be made. Last year the £1,400,000 paid out of the Consolidated Fund as unemployment relief came from loan moneys raised that year. This presents a problem. There has been no forecast of a-shortage of this money this year, so the Government may consider paying it nut, of loan money again. This means that extra taxation of about £1,500.000 at least will be avoided, but it is recognised that this policy cannot continue and that future relict' must come from taxation, possibly filler this year.
