IMPORTANT CONFERENCE. By Telegraph, Per Press At,.;uciation. j Hamilton, June 24. The annual meeting of the National Dairy Association, the most important conference on the dairying industry, at which five hundred delegates are attending, opened in Hamilton to-day. A civic reception was accorded the delegates and an extensive programme was arranged. During the session reference was made by the Chairman, Mr A. Morton, to the remarkable increase in dairy production in the past decade. The questions of the importation of manures and of herd testing were commented upon in the presidential address. The quality of the Dominion butter had been maintained, hut such was not the case with cheese. During the past year only twenty-four per cent, of the New Zealand cheese had been graded as* finest. Prohibitive tariffs on machinery and imported stock foods also formed a topic for discussion. The following directors were reelected:—E. S. Tremaine (Auckland), A. Morton. (Taranaki), J. G. Becliin (Wellington).
