COMPENSATION COURT

AUCKLAND. June 20,
Opinion in Auckland is generally unfavourable lo the proposal to set up a A\ orkors’ Compensation* Court.
Ihe President of the Employers’ Association said that the Government would simply he adding burdens on to the overloading revenue. AI r Phelan, Timber Workers’ .secretary, said the Court was quite unnecessary and would be prejudical to the workers. The present Judge of the Arbitration Court bad a full knowledge of the various trades, and such knowledge was absolutely essential.
Of the two barristers experienced in compensation cases, one favoured the special Court, but thought the Judge should sit without assessors. The other said he knew of nobody with anything like Judge Fraser’s qualifications.
