Detroit police arrested five leaders of a gang of kidnappers who occupied a fine surbiirban residence. They made u confession involving a high Detroit police official and lea cl i Jig Attorney. It is alleged the ganig collected aproximately a million dollars in three years. Stories of amazing torture were revealed. It is alleged that victims when kidnapped were subjected to horrible cruelty. Eyelashes were pulled out-, hot irons were held close to the eyes and in several cases the victims were trussed up • and made targets for fancy shooting with bullets grazing tlie'ir bodieu. Alter this treatment/ most were willing to sign letters imploring relatives to pay up and not tell.
