CHRISTCHURCH, June 13,

With the threat of a strike looming over the coal mine industry on the Vest Coast, special importance is attached to the conference held in Christchurch to-day between representatives of the Mine Owners’ Association and United Mine Workers of New Zealand. From inquiries made at the luncheon adjournment it was ascertained that very satisfactory progress had been made and that there was every prospect of a complete settlement of all matters still in dispute being reached this afternoon.
