DEBTORS TRICKED
LONDON, June 5
Judgment for £10,1309, including £4OOO in respect of a dishonoured cheque, was given in the King’s Bench Division against Dr George Ernest Spero, late Labour member for West Fulham.
The action arose out of Spero’s sale or a wireless equipment business to a syndicate, which resold it to the plaintiff, Truphonic Radio Ltd. The claim also concerned book debts, amounting to £0369, for which Spero gave a guarantee.
Counsel added that Spero obtained «ix months’ delay in*order to defend the action by counter-claiming £20,000. which on examination proved fictitious. He made good use of the time) having a bill of sale over the furniture, after which he went to America, where he remains outside the Court’s jurisdiction.
Dr (Spero twice went round 4 the world studying Imperial and foreign affairs.
