MEETING WITH MAORIS
WANGANUI, June 11
Lady Bledisloe visited the hospital this morning. She walked through the various wards and shook hands with all the patients. At noon their Excellencies were met by members of the Maori race from upriver in Wanganui and presented with piupius, mats and also with an address from the young Maori people. The address was set in a carved frame representing the entrance to the wharepuni.
Lord Bledisloe thanked the Maoris for their gifts and demonstration of unswerving loyalty to the King and Empire.
VICE-REGAL VISIT,
NEW PLYMOUTH, June 12
Lord and Lady Bledisloe arrived in New Plymouth to-night, and they were accorded a warm welcome by a large assembly at a civic reception. Lord Bledisloe will attend the Winter Show to-morrow, and will visit other Taranaki towns and Mount Egmont, and departs on Saturday.
