PANAMA HOTEL
DESTROYED BY FIRE

NELSON, June 9
Fire broke out at the Panama Hotel, of nine rooms, owned by G. J. Oliver, and leased by W. J. Carson, late of Wellington, early on Sunday morning. The top storey was destroyed. The ground floor is intact. There were eighteen occupants, several of whom had narrow escapes. The insurances on the Panama Hotel buildings totalled .1*2,600; those on the stock £4OO, and those on the furniture and effects £6OO.
