The dairy pi'oduce a.t the New Plymouth Winter Show was judged today. The Levin Dairy Company, scored-.heavily in butter. Eltliam was successful in the Taranaki Championship. In cheese, Dalefield (Wairarapaf is a prominent prize Vinner, Pahiatua also scoring well. Royal Oak fOmata) wins the Taranaki Championship.

WELLINGTON, June 7

In his recent financial staterr cut Mr Forbes intimated that it was the intention of the Government to set lip a Royal Commission to investigate )J1 branches of the Railway Depart-; ment’s activities, and advise where economies could be effected. Mr Forbes now announces that the Go-vernor-General has approved the following members of the Commission : John Dryden Hall (Christchurch), Richard William McViUey and James Vlurchbanks " (Wellington), Robert Masters (Stratford), and George Walter Reid (Dunedin). Mr Masters is to be chairman. The Commission will commence its sittings »t an early date. *

HOUSE DESTROYED.

MASTER TON, June 9

A seven-roomed house,, owned bythe Mauriceville •Lime Company., and occupied by -E. Jacobsen and family, at Mauriceville, was completely destroyed by fire at about 8.15 o’clock on Saturday night. The family was absent at the time of the outbreak, and when discovered, the fire had a good bold, nothing being saved. The building and contents were covered '•v insurance.

MOTOR, VICTIMS IN HOSPITAL

PAHIATUA, June 9.

A voutli, Eric Sinders, while cvclying, was knocked down by a carBis parents reside at Mnngamatu. He was removed to the Public Hospital. ; , Mrs Gillman, senior, a resident of Horolka, sustained various injuries when a car in which she was travelline ran into a bank at Konini. She is also in the Hospital.
