CHRISTCHURCH, June 5.

. The Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to-night carried unanimously the following resolution:—That . the Canterlniry Chamber of Commerce heartily congratulates Hon. Mr Forbes on his appointment as Prime Minister and welcomes his announcement that every effort will be made to obtain the greatest possible economy in Government administration, and that non-essential state services will be eliminated, or at least severely our-, tailed, as the necessity for this policy lias been persistently stressed 'by this Chamber.
