SHOCKING TRAGEDY
CYCLIST HITS EXPRESS

PALMERSTON N., June 2
A shocking tragedy occurred at Kelvin Grove crossing this morning when a motor cyclist, whose name is not known, ran into the north bound Daylight Limited express and was killed instantly. The body was frightfully mutilated. Apparently deceased sighted the train when 50 feet from the line. His brakes failed to arrest his momentum and the cycle struck the engine. The rider was whirled round the wheels.
