It is understood Air MacDonald is shortly making changes in the Cabinet.
The “Sunday Express” believes Mr Thomas will become Secretary for the Dominions and preside at the coming Conference, and a strong committee with Air MacDonald as president will be appointed to deal with unemployment.
STEAMERS COLLIDE
LOSS OF CREW FEARED

LONDON, June 1. The Swedish steamer Inger was sunk and fifteen of the crew are feared to be drowned in consequence of a collision in a fog off Beacliy Head, with the Italian tanker Liiirn, the bows of which were damaged, but the crew is safe. AN UNFORTUNATE HAPPENING R CAUSES A RIOT. (Received this dav at 8.30. a.m.) DELHI, June 1, While a lance corporal on duty at Peshawar Gate was cleaning his rifle, it accidentally exploded, killing two children and severely wounding another who were passing by. The Chief Commissioner 1 promptly placarded the cityexplaining the occurrence and expressing profound regret and offering any reparation in his power. The affair caused much excitement. A large crowd gathered and had to be dispersed by the police and military.'The crowd attempted to snatch rifles from the hands of one military patrol, who filed in self defence. An official estimate of the casualties show seven were killed and nine wounded.
NEWSPAPER PURCHASE. LONDON, Juno 1. The “News of the World” learns negotiations are completed tfor the purchase of the “Daily Chronicle” by the “Daily News.” LONDON NEWSPAPER CEASES. (Received this day at 1.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 1. The “Chronicle’s disappearance loaves the “Daily News” the only Liberal London morning paper. The cessation was dramatically sudden. The staff were unaware of it as late as Saturday, while the usual preparations were going on for the production of Monday’s paper. It is pointed out negotiations were completed only 48 hours ago. The remarkable success of the new “Daily Herald” is believed largely responsible for Liberalism comoining the two newspapers, AN ENORMOUS ESTATE. (Received this dav at 11 a.m.) LONDON, June 2. The “New of the World” learns that Lord Ashton left an amazing fortune of between thirty and forty millions, probably a record estate.
