A vigorous protest against the further increase in the motor taxation was made at the conference of the North and South Island Motor Unions to-dav.

“Wo all feel sympathetic to those men who are unemployed,” said Mr Ansell. “but we know that the highways funds hare been used to relieve unemployment, and. without doubt, wo have not had value for our money. I doubt if there has been a return of ten shillings in the pound.” The following motion was carried: “That this conference pretests against any further increase on motor taxat ion.”
