NEW YORK, May, 18.
A message from Niagara halls,"’New York, states that the citizens of three oouijtries gathered at Lundys I.ane Cemetery; and attended the unveiling of a monument of a huge marble slab inscribed: “To the memory of Wflliam E. Stra-ehan, born at Brisbane, Australia, on September 18th. 1.91.1 ; died April 19th, 1929, while on a tour; of the United States and Canada with the Young Australian League.” The stone was erected by contributions from the Roys’ C'ujb Federation in America. Hon". Mr Fenton (Australian Minister of Customs; attended the function'. ' He said: ‘‘This .s; a . lieautiful tribute of love, respect, fjm! honour from American and Canadian youths for their foreign comrade. It is a further proof of the Angbi-Saxon races drawing closer together. Mr Brookes (Australian Commissioner to U.S.A.) in a message to the Boys’ Clulb Federation, stated: “Need I assure you that, it gives me joy to dwell upon the .union of Hearts revealed by this tablet of stone. In it we have the great Republic of the United States linked with two of the greatest Dominions, within the British 'Commonwealth of nations. May it be symbolic of great accord : n the luture.”
Other speakers were the Niagara Falls Mayor, Mr. Swayze, reprinting the Lord Mayor of Brisbaneand Mi Mr l jawrie Newham, a member of the group of Young.. who are. students at Minnesota. University.
