ACCIDENT IN STOLEN CAR

PALMERSTON N., May it)

A report, made to the pc. I ice yesterday afternoon that a car had been taken from King Street, had an unexpected sequel last evening. At 9.30 the dead body of a man was brought to the public hospital by an unknown motorist and later it was discovered lie was William Stafford Anderson, whose passport indicated lie was an engineer from Canada and had met his death in a motor smash at Laonui crossing, near Feilding. Apparently the deceased, n l;o was calling himself Bryce called at Bunny thorpe hotel in a ear, the same description a.s the missing one, and which to-day was identified as the latter car, and offered to take two waitresses to Feilding where they were going. They accepted, and mt knowing the road, the driver did not cross the railway line but he continued over a bad stretch and collided with a boundary sign, the car somersaulting twice. The girls crawled clear and found him lying on the road severely .hurt, dazed, 'bruised and „ cut. They reached a nearby residence to secure help and meanwhile a motorist arrived and picking u,p the victim conveyed him, an an unconscious state to the hospital, where ho arrived beyond aid. The missing car was owned by 0. 8. Moldingham.
