SUBMARINE FLEET
SAILING FOR CHINA.

The departure for China on 24th May of the British O class submarines with the mothership Medway, forming the nucleus of the fifth submarine flotilla, will Ibe an- important naval occasion, says the “Observer.” From tiie Medway downward every keel will be new,' while the flotilla will bo the most powerful force of submarines under the White Ensign
when at its full strength, which vv ill be when joined by the still newer P. boats, generally resembling O. class but two an,d a half knots faster surface speed. When based at Hongkong both officers and crews will live comfortably aboard the Medway which is more like a liner than any other naval vessel.
