Cass Square was the centre of attraction yesterday, when before a good attendance, Hokitika defeated the Mawhera a team, who have not been heathen for many years. From, the bully off Hokitika started off at a great pace ana after a nice passing rush, N. Olsen secured a goal, earning great applause from the spectators. Hokitika kept Mawhera bn the defensive from then on and indulged in some great passing rushes, but Mawhera kept them out of the goal. After half-time Hokitika ran Mawhera off their feet, and after some more pretty passing rushes N. 01* sen secured her second goal. M. Sumner added a third with a beautiful shot, a penalty goal was given against a Mawhera player for not playing off the penalty bully, givea her. Hokitika were far superior to Mawhera in all parts of the game. The backs were given little to do, but acquitted themselves well when required. The halves gave the forwards every opportunity and the forwards played the best hockey seen here for some time. Messrs Rutland and Richmond were referees and Mr Yarrall acted as timekeeper.
KOKATAHI V. UNITED
This game was played at Kokatahi yesterday afternoon,. when Kokatahi team, who are showing improved form, won by two goals to one. Mrs Baird and Miss R. Cron scored for Kokatahi.
