QUAIL SHOOTER HURT.

BLENHEIM, May 12,
Douglas Harvey, of Manama, Pelorus Sound, was admitted to the Pieton Hospital last night suffering from gunshot wounds. Harvey was one of a party that were out quail shooting. A gun discharged, striking Harvey in the side. The shot scattered, entered Harvey’s body from the ankle to the top of his head.
CAR KILLS MAN
AUCKLAND, May 13
A fatal accident occurred in Khyber Pass Road to-night. A man named Arthur Reginald Sloman, a resident of Khyber Pass, was struck by a motor car as he stepped off the kerb to cross the road; being killed instantaneously. The car was driven by John Fleming, of Grafton Road.
Sloman was thrown heavily to the concrete, reviving head injuries and a broken leg, while his neck also appeared to be broken. The deceased .was 65 years - old';: and he . leaves a wife and v three; children. He was a gardener by occupation.
MR POLSON’S IDEA , W CONDEMNED. • AVEILINGTON, May 13. ' The Land Values League denoiMpes the proposal to derale farm lands, .on the grounds that once it is adopted, it will extend to, borough lands, as the result of it, and the Customs will have to make up the deficiency. It is claimed that the revenue from land has already been so depleted that it' produces barely one million and a-half, which is less than three times what the ratepayers of Wellington City alone have to pay.
