WRONG MAN FINED
PLEADS GUILTY TO TOO MUCH

WELLINGTON, May 12
Two men named Rafferty were central figures m a comedy of errors in tne Magistrate's Court to-day. When the name of Andrew Rafferty was called, a solidly budt middle aged man marched through the Court and into the dock. Asked how he ■pleaded to a charge of drunkenness lie replied “I’m sorry.”
lie was further charged with, casting offensive matter and having admitted In. tli offences lie was fined ten shillings on the first charge and on the second, one pound.
There were a number of humorous interludes while Rafferty was seeking for time to pay, which was ultimately granted. / When the Court rose it was discovered that a man, named Anon Rafferty was still in custody and had not been dealt with. Exohinations followed and it was found that the man who had been dealt with as Andrew Rafferty wasi ( in fact dames ißafferfiv; i :He had' ednieto' the" - Coin t this morning with-a ■ summons to:appear on Friday next on a charge of rasping, offensive matter, and he had a sired to lie dealt with-to-day as he was going away in his ship.
