The second day of the Nelson J.C. races was held in perfect weather. The track was good and the attendance large:

Matai Trot:—(3) Alpine Melody, , (3) Ailsa Bingen 2, (7) Drift Wave Also started:—lvodie and Bell o’ Mine (Bracketed), Kentucky Direct, Nelson Gara, Hardiness, Chancellor Wilkes, Loco. Won by a length. Time 2.55.
Redwood Handicap: —(2) Smithereens 1, (1) Tourist- 2s, (6) Spearmiss 3. Also started: Black Mint. Jmateagirl. Baby Bun, Ardifinnan. Won by a length and a-lialf; a neck. Time 1.40 3-5.
