Government authorities at Kai-fc-ng, capital of Honan province, report a tei'i'ibVo massacre in Yungyang district on April 23rd. A large horde of bandits looted every village leaving widespread desolation of rapine and murder in their wake, An area of two hundred fifty miles square was completely .laid waste. Nine thousand houses were burned to the ground, and fifteen thousand people killed or carried off for ransom .
A (magistrate and officials Were tortured horribly and killed.
