The first cruiser of the eight thousand four, hundred tonnor class, the cruiser York (cabled on July 17, 19,29) has been commissioned and she is joining the Second Cruiser Squadron at Seapa Flow. She has been three years building at Palmer’s works at Jarrow-on-Tyne, and she has cost approximately one million eight hundred thousand sterling. Qn her trials she showed a speed of 32i knots, developing 80,000 horse power.
