In connection with’-the dance to be held in the Koiteraugi Public Hall in aid of the local teniits club the date in yesterdays issue should have read May 28th. and not' May 21st. as stated.

■ "• ■ ■ A very pleasant, time was ( spent in St. Mary’s Club ; Rooms last evening . when tho members; of St. Mary’s Debating Club and friepds assembled to bid farewell and make a presentation to Mr J. There was-a good gathering, of well wishers, thus . testifyingto the)esteem in which Mr Burns is held. • The evening took -the, form of . a social. , at which a sumptuous repast was .partaken, the usual toasts being duly honoured. Club, Mr J. .Lynch,,,in making the presentation of a case; of pipes, spoke in glowing ternis. r ofy-the departing guest and of his kindly interest in club matters.- He" had been a faithful member and am 1 example to his associates. There then; followed many eulogistic speeches by members and visitors. Ataxy’s Club had always, given him pleasure. He was sorry to have to—s®.ver connection with its Workings, but he would carry away with him -happy memories of his association with the Club and of his stay in Hokitika.
