Doctor Charles Puttison was committed for trial on a charge of procuring Peter Prior, a half Caste, to murder Robert Curry, foreman at Palm Island sawmill.

Ralph Matthews said lie' heard Patfcison say to some boys, “What is being done to prevent Curry’s return.” The boys replied that they were postin' l : themselves along the beach and they had orders to- shoot Curry. Puttison said, “Shoot him in the guts where lie shot me.’’
