FAST FLIGHT

Having*covered 555 miles in four hours fifty-five- minutes’ actual flying time, : Flight-Lieut. Buckley arrived from Auckland to-day in a "Fairey 111 F” monoplane. This machine has been -clesigned for aerial survey work, ■and will 'be used by Flight-Lieut. Buckley in surveying the Maniototo country.
From the Hobsonville air base to Christchurch only one stop was made, ■ait Blenheim, where Lieut. Buckley landed to inspect his auxiliary petrol tanks' which lie suspected were not functioning properly. He found little amiss, and resumed the. flight. He rived at Wigram Aerodrome at 4.35
p.m. When the weather clears Lieut. Buckley will leave for Maniototo Plains Central Otago to make an aerial' photographic survey. He will make his base at Ranfurly, and will spend four days on the work. Special accommodation has been made in the aeroplane for a photgrapher and apparatus, and the wide flying range of (he machine will facilitate the survey.
